Colby Kelly, owner of Kelly Lawn & Landscaping LLC receives Employer of the Year Award for Youth Hire.

Rick Rios, Coordinator for Career & Technology Education (C&TE) in the Anchorage School District (ASD) hosted the annual C&TE Advisory Board Luncheon on Wednesday October 14th at King Career Center (KCC). The100+ attending guests were from ASD, Department of Labor and Workforce Development (DOLWD)), VIP’s from across the state- including Alaska’s Lieutenant Governor Campbell. As part of the agenda for the luncheon, the Alaska Construction Academy announced the winner of the annual “Employer of the Year Award for Youth Hire”. Kelly Lawn and Landscaping LLC – a member of the Anchorage Home Builders Association and one of the (DOLWD) Career Guide partner employers – won this year’s award. Colby Kelly is the owner. His company hired 4 of our 2009 graduates from the ASD Seniors Job Club. The award was presented to Colby at the luncheon by Dick Cattanach, CEO of the Construction Education Foundation of Alaska along with a big “thank you” to Colby for helping to build the next workforce for Alaska’s construction industry.
